Another Year

Well, here we are once again facing the end of another year. Hopefully, 2011 will be a better year. Before ending 2010, I will make a simple vow not to make any resolution for 2011 so as to keep one resolution for sure after all these years of not keeping any resolutions. So long 2010, it was nice knowing you.

Is Religion Good or Bad?

I came across this chart. It is an interesting chart to see. This is particularly true when one observes Turkey. If this chart is true then most in Turkey are much more secular than people in this country. Sweden is the most secular.

Tina Fey Acceptance's Speech of the Coveted Mark Twain Prize for Humor

Watch the full episode. See more Mark Twain Prize.

Tina Fey was awarded the coveted Mark Twain Prize for Humor. Yesterday, a clip of her hilarious acceptance speech including a heap of praise for Sarah Palin was shown on PBS. But, according to The Hollywood Reporter, PBS actually cut a controversial bit Fey did about Palin and the success of conservative women when the award ceremony was broadcast.

Behind the House

Behind the house a garden lies
And a tiny table awaits
With coffee cups and bowels of fruit
And little raisin cakes

Down through the years
we've stayed close friends
through near or far apart
And you will always have a place
in the garden of my heart

Jaron and the Long Road to Love

I love this music. The lyric is particularly great. It should be a hymn.

I haven't been to church since I don’t remember when

Things were goin’ great ‘til they fell apart again

So I listened to the preacher as he told me what to do

He said you can’t go hatin’ others who have done wrong to you

Sometimes we get angry, but we must not condemn

Let the good Lord do His job and you just pray for them

I pray your brakes go out runnin’ down a hill

I pray a flowerpot falls from a window sill and knocks you in the head like I’d like to

I pray your birthday comes and nobody calls

I pray you’re flyin’ high when your engine stalls

I pray all your dreams never come true

Just know where ever you are honey, I pray for you

I’m really glad I found my way to church

‘Cause I’m already feelin’ better and I thank God for the words

Yeah I’m goin’to take the high road

And do what the preacher told me to do

You keep messin’ up and I’ll keep prayin’ for you

I pray your tire blows out at 100 and 10

I pray you pass out drunk with your best friend and wake up with his and her tattoos

I pray your brakes go out runnin’ down a hill

I pray a flowerpot falls from a window sill and knocks you in the head like I’d like to

I pray your birthday comes and nobody calls

I pray you’re flyin’ high when your engine stalls

I pray all your dreams never come true

Just know wherever you are, near or far, in your house or in your car,

wherever you are honey, I pray for you.

Is Sharron Angle Going to Represent Nevada?

Is this for real? How did the Tea-baggers voted for this lady? And how can the people from the state of Nevada still be unsure about Sharron Angle? Lady, I know Asian, and you don't look anything like an Asian woman. And in all honesty, if you were Asian, I would be ashame to be Asian. How is this woman tied with Harry Reid? I know that Reid isn't the best person for the job, but are we to say that Angle is more representative of our country or in that matter of Nevada.

Sunday is the Most Segregated Time in the World

True integration is the last frontier for Christianity in this country. We worship an Asian god, a Brown god, a White god but not the True God. The Christian's god is as racist as our Sunday morning is, the True God is a multi-cultural all inclusive God, the True Church confesses with a thousand tongues and not with a single tongue - at least that was I was taught to believe by reading the Christian Scripture. But that isn't what I see, love seems to be too weak to break the reality of segregation on Sunday morning.

A Little Known Battle with Depression

Among Asian-American women, a little known battle with depression | Need to Know

I always find surprising to hear that many Asian-Americans still aren't aware that depression is a great issue for Asian-Americans. Honestly, are we to be surprise about the high number of Asian-Americans suffering from depression? This is not only an issue for Asian-American women but it is also a great issue for Asian men in this country. There are too many pressures with too little support when expectations aren't achieved or met. Most community would be happy to see their children getting in to college, which isn't the case in all Asian-American families. Getting into college is not the issue, but the issue is getting into the right college. The expectation is to get in to the top 20 colleges and universities in this country. But the high, and sometimes impossible, expectations are not merely set by our Asian communities, even colleges expect brilliance from Asian-Americans. It is not enough for Asian-Americans to have a 4.0 GPA with perfect or near perfect SAT scores. The top 5 universities in this country expect much more out of the Asian-American students.

Those pressures are constant. I have friends who are, in all measurements, in top 10 percent in grades but because they haven't got in the top 10 universities in this country, they are consider to be average and "average" is not acceptable in the Asian community - and this is also an issue in the work force for firms too have high expectations. In this reality, Asians are only truly Asians when they are brilliant and anything less is just unacceptable. So, honestly, how can Asian-American women and men not suffer from depression? Negative stereotypes are debilitating but so are positive - or perhaps, more accurate to say distorted - stereotypes. One of my best guy friend, he was this amazing artistic person. He had a great gift with seeing beauty through his camera and through painting on a large canvas. Math and science wasn't his strength and he did poorly in the SAT. The only place he could get in was a community college, a junior college, and an art institute. I believe he would have been an amazing artist. But the mockery and shame were too much and he felt into deep depression. We, his friend, tried to encourage him to seek help. But he never did, and one afternoon he decided to take his own life. This was a preventable tragedy. As an Asian woman, I know both the high and low expectations. In the end, Asian women suffer much more silently because this is another expectation set in by our Asian community.

The new poor in America

The new poor: Baby boomers in the jobless crisis | Need to Know

I hope it "ain't" true, but the reality seems to indicate that the Republican party will win big in this coming election year. At the same time, I am tired of both parties not having the guts to do what is right because of fear from the crazy "Tea-baggers." When did such a small number of crazy-fearmongering-apocalyptic-worshiping-lunatic hijacked truth and reason? Yes, I can understand the anger if the anger was directed at both the Republicans and Democrats for pandering to the big, powerful, and rich Americans, the top 5 percent. If this so-called grassroots movement were electing truly a third party candidates - and Tea-bagger candidates aren't truly third party - then I can see the appeal. But that isn't the case, the Tea-baggers are merely electing the same old Republican agenda which has never been truly implemented - even during Regan's time, there was great tax hike and during W. Bush's time, we had the greatest increase in government bureaucracy. In all honesty, neither of these parties, Republicans nor Democrats, care for the middle class or the poor. But then, the real stupid person is not the person selling us the same old agenda. Nope, the real stupid person is all of us who buy into their message of fear and terror. The Palins and the Becks and the Foxs are the one who hold our country back with their crazy and stupidity narrative. They sell us fear. They sell us hopelessness. They sell us barbarism. Thus, in the end, the real stupid person is us the people for buying into the fearmongering-apocalyptic-lunatic narratives that plague our country. At this rate, I don't want what the so-called "people" want because what they want is irrational-lunatic-racist-divisive-destructive policies. Currently, the so-called "people" are lunatic-bullies. I don't agree with Bill Maher, but he is right to call us, the American people, bullies. Wake-up America! I think don't agree much with Maher's rhetoric but in this case I can't stop saying, "Amen, brother Bill."

Sarah Palin On 'Pyramid'

This is an old video, but still relevant and funny. Do we really want this woman to run our country? If Palin wins and if she becomes our 45th president, I will have to believe in a god because if "hell" is a literal-physical place then "heaven" must be also a literal-physical reality.

If Jesus were to run for political office

This is a great video with the exception of the ending. Yes, McCain seems to have lost his "maverick" and "moderate" ways, but still in the end that was a cheap shot. It would have been a much more powerful critique - if this were a critique - on America to see the video ending with Lady Liberty approving this message.

As the election heats up, this is what Jesus would be running against if he were to run for a political office in this country. This is exactly what Jesus' opponents will be saying about Jesus and his records. This is both humorous and a great critique of our America. It is a great critique on her schizophrenic self-sense of Christianity.

Always Check Context

What could this be?

But after further research, you find that this is a commercial. Yes, it is a strange commercial but it is just a commercial and nothing else. So, regardless of whether you are conservative or liberal, you are responsible to research and find out the true context of any story.

Danica Patrick Signs Some Man Boobs In New Commercial - Watch more Funny Videos

Do you remember Shirley Sherrod? I am tired of news media, like FOX and others, not reporting the news but distorting the news just to fit their political narrative. I thought it was a very conservative value to tell the truth and nothing but the truth. So, when did not telling the truth become a conservative value?

The Beauty of Diversity

Most of us are strong supporter of diversity in our country. We defend heterogeneity because it plays an essential role in enriching our human experience. There are also many social and economic benefits in having a very diverse population. Our culture has gained tremendously from having people from all walks of life interact with one another. Their experiences play a vital role in our endeavor to build a more communal community of people.

Perhaps, one area in which most of us overlook the amazing power of diversity is beauty. True, diversity brought us some amazing artistic experience in field of music and visual arts. It also contributed greatly in our scientific knowledge of human reality.

But diversity also brought us, in its most natural and basic sense, human beauty. Through different racial interactions, their sexual interactions gave birth to stunningly beautiful human beings. And because of it, we are much happier and fortunate to have such beauty walking among us and in our midst.

So, let us keep the flame of interracial intoxication alive in our community. Let us fight against ugly racism that still lingers in our society in the form of so-call preference of race. White isn't the standard of beauty. Black isn't the standard of beauty. Brown isn't the standard of beauty. Asian isn't the standard of beauty. Beauty is diversity.

So, begin today by moving out from your comfort zone and experiencing beauty in your most uncomfortable zone. Perhaps, try a Brown flavor or Black or Asian or Red or White flavor. Just try and be open-minded to the possibility of creating beauty.

Peace & Love

Why do they always send the poor?
Barbarisms by Barbaras
With pointed Heels
Victorious victories kneel
For brand new spanking deals

Marching forward hypocritic
And hypnotic computers
You depend on our protection
Yet you feed us lies from the tablecloth
La la la la la la la la la la
Everybody is going to the party
Have a real good time
Dancing in the desert
Blowing up the sunshine
Kneeling roses
Disappearing into Moses' dry mouth
Breaking into Fort Knox
Stealing our intentions
Hangars sitting, dripped in oil

Crying freedom!
Handed to obsoletion
Still you feed us lies from the tablecloth
la la la la la la la la la la
Everybody is going to the party
Have a real good time
Dancing in the desert
Blowing up the sunshine
Everybody is going to the party
Have a real good time
Dancing in the desert
Blowing up the sunshine
Blast off, it's party time
and we DON'T live in a fascist nation

Blast off, it's party time
And where the fuck are you?
Where the fuck are you?
Where the fuck are you?
Why don't presidents fight the war?
Why do they always send the poor?
Why don't presidents fight the war?
Why do they always send the poor?
Why do they always send the poor?
Why do they always send the poor?
Why do they always send the poor?
Kneeling roses
Disappearing into Moses' dry mouth
Breaking into Fort Knox
Stealing our intentions
Hangers sitting, dripped in oil

Crying freedom!
Handed to a obsoletion
Still you feed us lies from the tablecloth

Everybody is going to the party
Have a real good time
Dancing in the desert
Blowing up the sunshine
Everybody is going to the party
Have a real good time
Dancing in the desert
Blowing up the sun...
Where the fuck are you?

Why don't presidents fight the war?

Why do they always send the poor?
Why do they always send the poor?
Why do they always send the poor?
Why do they always send the poor?
Why do they always send the poor?
Why do they always send the poor?
They always send the poor!
They always send the poor!

Our Future Not So Bright!

We already spend more than any other countries on the education of our children and still we rank on the bottom in math and science test score. So, why do people in this country think that spending more money will solve the problem? We have been spending already more and more money with no real result. So, do people believe that this time the result will be different by spending more "wisely"? What about not spending but changing its current way of teaching? What about copying from other countries who rank higher in math and science test scores? Or about listening to Sir Robinson?

What Does This Say?

They tell us not to judge everyone by the action of the few. At the same time, what are we to say when the few says nothing about the action of many? Many in the Muslim communities expect the Western culture to respect them, but at the same time they don't respect Western culture most cherished freedom, the freedom of expression. Listen, there are many things I find offensive too, and I would love to have those offensive things removed, but that does not mean that I will use violence against another person or employ mob-bullying mentality to intimidate in submission just because it is absolutely offensive to me. That isn't democracy! True democracy is allowing other their expressions, and also allowing those who have been offended to express their discontent with civility, respect and reason.

I am, however, curious about a few things. Where are the other Swedes who believe in the freedom of expression? Do they not care to protect their freedom of expression? Why are they not protesting against those who are employing a mob-bullying intimation against freedom of expression? All I saw is one vocal woman and lots of silence from many of the other Swedes in that room. Are they just that timid? Or are they just too nice? Don't they have the same courage as the cartoonist Lars Vilks has in showing his works?

Children Are Biased Toward Lighter Skin

Should this surprise us? Honestly, we act as if this is surprising. Just look at our language and the way we use to describe what is negative in our world. We describe evil as dark. When referring to redemptive or good experiences, we describe them by referring with lighter color like white -- the white dove is symbolic of peace and the angel of death is black. The dominance of white as the good color is deeply embedded in our psyche -- particularly where the Western culture is the dominant culture. An example of this dominance is in our tendency to say that light, which is good, is white and that dark, which is evil, is black. It is easy to spot racism when it is a flagrant miscarriage of justice, but the real problem is our silent racism, which is very hard to uncover and it is truly the driving power that still grips our society. One great example is in our metaphorical language to describe positive and negative matrix. This reporting by Anderson Cooper merely asserts the known truth that racism still has a very strong hold on our psyche.

Silent racism is the true destructive power that hold us captive by dividing us against one another and also by putting us against each other.

Silence racism has a strong hold on us; its shackles are invisible and unassuming in daily life. It is also very defensive -- i.e., to say that most of us in mainline America would be most offended and also fervently defend against any accusation of prejudice and racism. As long as, we aren't truly able to see our sin our; the truth of our being, we will not be able to free ourselves from the shackles of bigotry, intolerance, prejudice and racism.

Right-wing media attacks Obama over "unambiguously ... strong" jobs report

Okay, the right-wing media simply does not like President Obama and his administration. We get it, but this constant negative attack is beginning to sound like a broken-record that keeps on going and going on to the point that now it sounds like a nagging toddler. It is getting so bad that I want someone to shut the right-wing media up. But, in the end, I'm a big believer in free-speech. I just wonder if free-speech means no responsibility or accountability.

Just compare that with what others are saying about this unambiguously strong report:

Economist: "This is unambiguously a strong report." The New York Times reported MF Global chief economist James O'Sullivan's statement that "This is unambiguously a strong report for growth implications. ... It adds to the evidence that the pickup in growth is leading to a clear-cut pickup in employment. It is very clear there has been a bounce here, and momentum has been up.' "

Reuters: Increase in jobs "far more than analysts had expected." A May 7 Reuters reported that the "[a]nalysts polled by Reuters had expected nonfarm payrolls to rise 200,000," 90,000 less than reported:

AP: Unemployment increased "mainly because 805,000 jobseekers -- perhaps feeling better about their prospects -- resumed their searches for work." The May 7 Associated Press linked to by Drudge and Hoft reported: "The unemployment rate rose from 9.7 percent in March to 9.9 percent in April, mainly because 805,000 jobseekers -- perhaps feeling better about their prospects -- resumed their searches for work."

Economist O'Sullivan: Unimployment increase "more than accounted for" by labor force surge." The Times reported O'Sullivan's statement, "Of course one of the headlines is that the unemployment rate rose, but the rise was more than accounted for by a surge in the labor force."

Right-wing media isn't conservatism because conservatism at its best means to be balance, fair and critical -- which isn't FOX News for FOX News sounds more like a state-run propaganda machine that is more like North Korea state-run news media.

Not Religious But Taken By Its Artistic Beauty

The music is from Beethoven so it is a very beautiful music even with sacred words in it -- and I'm neither religious nor spiritual. Just an agnostic or as Colbert calls it, "an atheist without balls."

Regardless of whether one is a religious-nut or a intolerant-atheist, Beethoven' Symphony No. 9 is a beautiful musical arrangement.

Buddha's Apartment

What would be like for Christ to get a taste of his own medicine? Would he react just like the Buddha? That would be a great video.

Why Did Healthcare Bill Become More Enticing?

Once again, an opportunity has manifested itself out that will separate the “haves” and “have-nots” of this great nation. People, as many time before, our forefathers of this great nation have faced many calamities that to this days our nation basks on the good fortune of their unquenchable spirit of progress – of dreaming of a better future for future generations. This insatiable quest of building a better tomorrow was firmly rooted in their belief that each succeeding generations must be more knowledgeable than the previous generations. In that truth, they trusted; in that truth, they built our nation. Thus, we arrive at a point that folly reigns above realistic-sanity of sensible-reason. However, the tide is slowly turning once again. Light is once more breaking through the darkness and uprooting from our good land the weeds of irrational-madness. It is time to march away from idiocy and climb to reach the acme of reason. Now it is not the time to be dissuaded from our course ahead, for the time is now, and now we must progress at a gallant rate to purge those who are attempting to move us backward to the times of our forefathers. They desire this, much to the chagrin of our forefathers. Our forefathers bet at all on progress and it was on that courage that our country was built. Now they want to take away the progress and replace with backwardness. This is the time to take back our nation from these mongers of fear and hate. Vote no to these false prophet of conservatism by voting yes to healthcare reform.

Okay, if that reason isn't good enough, then let me add that if healthcare reform passes and it is signed by President Obama, then we can say goodbye to Rush Limbaugh. Yes, Rush Limbaugh will be leaving our country if healthcare reform passes through Congress and it is signed by the President of our great nation.

Nation, if nothing else, let us pass healthcare reform so as to rid one of the tumors lodged inside of us. The first step to recovery is to face the fact that our tumor has spread and crop up in other parts of our nation. Surgically removing those tumors will not be easy, but thank goodness that we have the best doctors and medical facilities to remove these life-treating tumors. This procedure will be very costly, but by pulling our resources together we can remove our tumors in us. Thus, say yes to healthcare reform. Call, write or go to Washington and march demanding healthcare reform from the Democratic Party.

Preparation is Half the Fun!
